There was a music event with lots of names, my main wants being Annie Lennox and Joni Mitchell. To start with, I did a flight for Annie Lennox, who is perhaps best known for Sweet Dreams.
Go to the airport and she is unfortunately sporting a mask and shades and is saying she doesn't want to take the mask off. She signs everything for anyone and proceeds to take mask ps. She tells me "it's special" and "don't be so sad". When it was time for me to take my mask shot she actually PULLS IT DOWN! I was the only one to get her with no mask (spoiler alert this success would be negated in the future as I would get a no mask and no shades shot).
The next day I went to a music event unrelated to the one with Annie/Joni. Featured were Shirley Jones (the black singer, not the white singer/actress who does cons), Jean Carn, and Melba Moore (she actually had a part in one of my favorite cartoons, All Dogs Go to Heaven).
Shirley Jones did a meet and greet but I arrived 5 minutes too late. By a miracle of circumstances, I got escorted backstage and got ops with all three of them! It was a great feeling not to have to wait for them to leave the venue.
Next day it is back to the Annie/Joni and begins with an early morning flight of Mumford and Sons lead singer, Marcus Mumford. I go to the airport and he signs but says it's too early for photo ops. I thank him and I'm on my way.
After mooching some breakfast and a powernap, I go to the hotel. I find out Joni Mitchell did send ins for one person and Cyndi Lauper racked it out.
I see James Taylor and sadly forgot to print but got another op. Annie Lennox is next and she remembers me from the airport. I ask for an op. She goes "another one?" and I said yes this time no shades. Cyndi Lauper does send ins and I get two CDs done.
Joni Mitchell is coming in and I plead for the op and she agrees! Despite her people trying to shove me away I push through and score the money shot and thru the skin of my teeth even get a valid shot for someone else. The day is officially an epic success.
Go to another spot for movie director Jon Turteltaub. He directed 3 Ninjas and National Treasure. Was nice as can be and got him on some blanks. Back to the original spot but nothing was happening. So I called it a day.
Day is off to a slow start as I get Angelique Kidjo, Ledisi, Mark Bishop, and an autograph from Graham Nash. Joni Mitchell is not having it much to the dismay of the graphers. Thank God I got the op the prior day.
As the night ends, I get two autos from James Taylor and another auto from Graham Nash (I got a photo op from before so I let others have it).
Joni Mitchell comes back and they make her go in the side. Despite pleas from graphers she wouldn't sign.
The night ends with Marcus Mumford. He says one each, I get an auto then ask for the op. I tell him that it was me at the airport he says "I see that" and I say "thank you for doing the op this time" and he replies "thank you".
